A deputy with the West Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office has been arrested, accused of stealing fuel from the parish for his personal vehicle, the Sheriff's Office said in a news release Monday.
An investigation found that Joshua Dangerfield, 18, used a fuel card designated for a transportation van to fuel his personal vehicle at a parish-operated fuel pump, the release said.
Dangerfield worked as a transportation driver at the parish work release facility and had been employed with the Sheriff's Office since June 2024.
Following the investigation, Dangerfield was terminated from his position and booked on counts of malfeasance in office and theft. He was released on an $11,500 bond.
